Tile & Grout Care Tips:

To maintain your tile and grout clean and have a healthy lifestyle…follow these simple steps:

  1. Manufacturers recommend professionally cleaning and sealing your tile and grout every 2-3 years.
  2. Sealer should be re-applied every 6-12 months.
  3. After every cleaning, it is important to rinse the tile with clean water to remove the residue left from the cleaner.
  4. Acid-base grout cleaners do a good job, but most are toxic due to the strong ingredients in them. The chemicals in the cleaners, if used incorrectly, can damage the floors.
  5. For regular maintenance, a neutral cleaner made specifically for tile and grout should be used. Apply the solution and let it sit for 15 minutes. Gently scrub the grout to agitate the solution. Clean the floor with a terry towel and rinse it with clean water. For best result dry the floors with a microfiber towel.
  6. Do not use bleach-alkaline or vinegar-acidic products as they may break down some sealers which are there to help prevent soap scum oils and dirt from penetrating into the grout.
  7. Use nylon or plastic scrubbers; they generally will not scratch the tile.
  8. If you have travertine tile, please call a professional for maintenance and cleaning tips.
